The benefits you list, such as their being maintenance free, hygienic, non-porous and the abilitiy to endure a high temperature without cracking or scorching, not to mention their being 100 percent recyclable, make them a very appealing choice. If the tops are made of post industrial recycled amterial, they DO NOT qualify as green or qualify for LEEDS. Unless these folks understand something I don't, they are not making these tops out of post consuer glass material whihc do qualify. The Green washing continues and publications such as yours need to put an end to reporting things that are complete BS. I am preplexed by these people that claim that they are making products of recycled glass.
